The Tail Of Emily Windsnap By Liz Kessler
The book I have chosen for my book report is ‘The Tail of Emily Windsnap’. I chose this book because I love mermaids and fairy tales a lot. On the back of the book, it said, “Here’s my secret: I figured out that I am a mermaid.” I thought, ‘How could someone not know that they are a mermaid? I have to read this to find out.’ I love the blue seas. On the back I saw more of Liz Kessler’s books with catchy titles.

The author of this book is Liz Kessler. Liz Kessler has worked as a journalist and a teacher. She loved to encourage other children to write and loved writing herself. She has lived in a boat and a motorboat. She is now in beautiful Cornwall, England. She loves dogs. She likes pastel shades and the color of the sea. She loves to read

Beeston, Bob, Millie, and Julia. The title of this book is ‘The Tail of Emily Windsnap’. At the beginning, Emily goes swimming and gets a weird feeling on her legs like someone is tying her legs together. The protagonist of the story is Emily Windsnap.

The plot is that Emily finds her inner mermaid. The person who tries to help her is the hypnotist, Millie. The hinder is Emily herself, because she tries not to be hypnotized. The settings of this story are the school and in Emily’s house (boat). At the end, she says bye to normal school and joins a mermaid school.

The title of this story is ‘They Tail of Emily Windsnap’. I chose this book to do my report on because I loved to read about fantasy and mermaids. ‘The Tail of Emily Windsnap’ is a fantasy story. It tells about mermaids. It is a really well-written story that any age group would love to

On page 27, it said, “I was wide awake! I’d done it-Hooray! Millie was a phony!” It made me laugh when she said that. It made me laugh because I already knew that all hypnotists were fake. Sometimes, they just can’t hypnotize people.

The story was touching when she found out she was a mermaid. Except for, at one point, I felt scared when on page 7, it said, “One minute, I was swimming along like a flying fish. The next, my legs suddenly seized up. It felt as though somebody had glued my thighs together..!” I felt bad because I thought she was hurt.

I felt happy when her mom wanted to help her solve her problem by taking her to a hypnotist. Her mom wanted to help her fight her fears. Then, after I got to know that Emily faked through it, I felt sad. I felt sad because it meant she didn’t trust her mom. Also, I felt bad when she didn’t go swimming after the ‘accident’, even though she had an urge to.

I would recommend this book to my friends. Why? I would recommend it because I was sure many of them would like it - except for the ones who hate fantasy. Actually, I didn’t choose this book on my own. My friend had told me that she loved this book and that I should read it. It was a really touching book and was really fun to read and do a book report

“She had the grace of control to appear warm in the coldest weather, and on the Arkansas summer days it seemed she had a private breeze which swirled around, cooling her.” The story forms imagery in my head and there is a meaning that any reader can learn from. “Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with the shades of deeper meaning.” I agree with this quote since words will not mean anything unless there is voice. I would like to recommend this story to young adults who are on the verge of adulthood and even children, so they can start understanding more about what it is like to grow…
