Summary Of I Will Ruin Him By James Lasden
James Lasden is an educator and author who was cyberstalked by one of his former students over the course of several months. The title of his article, “I Will Ruin Him” is a clear demonstration of what were his stalker’s intentions. The student began emailing her former instructor seeking out advice and assistance with editing her novel. Since the author was familiar with the student’s work and has praised her highly in the past, he offered his own agent as a helpful source, who then recommended a freelance editor. Within a short window of time, his student, whose name has been changed to Nasheen, began threatening and harassing everyone involved in this situation. She began writing malicious online reviews about his books, and eventually started contacting people involved in his freelance work and the schools at which he taught. …show more content…
This eventually progressed into sending disturbing emails to his colleagues the introduced to her earlier, accusing the author of rape, inappropriate sexual conduct and stealing her writing. She also threatened the author and his associates, claiming that there will be dire consequences and that he will pay for his actions. After emailing his colleagues didn’t evoke a response, Nasheen began writing extremely negative reviews about the author’s books on various sites while claiming the author stole her work. Every couple of months, Nasheen’s attacks would increase in severity and publicity until it reached a boiling point. When Nasheen began sending emails and posting messages across the web in James Lasden’s name, he felt he had enough proof to have Nasheen charged with identity theft. It was at this point that he contacted NYPD and pressed

Although most assume Death looks like the Grim Reaper or a scary skeleton thing, in The Book Thief, Death is not. In fact, he even tells us what he looks like when he says, “I do not carry a sickle or a scythe. I only wear a hooded black robe when it’s cold. And I don’t have those skull-like facial features you seem to enjoy pinning on me from a distance… Find yourself a mirror while I continue” (Zusak 307). Essentially Death is saying that because all humans die, we all resemble death. Humans can and will die, and thus he is one of the things that is constant between all humans. Due to this reason I drew a man looking into a mirror to show Death. I just…

As evidence, I offer the following supporting examples from this essay. Like in paragraph eight and nine, when author worked as a journalist in Chicago. One day he did not pay attention of his behaviours, he was rushing into the office of a magazine he was writing for with a deadline story in hand, he was mistaken for a burglar. The office manager even called security. He had no way of proving who he was. And another time he was on assignment for a local paper and killing time before an interview. He entered a jewelry store on the city's affluent side. The proprietor looked like she did not welcome author. She excused herself and returned with an enormous red Doberman Pinscher straining at the end of a leash. author took a cursory look around, and had to go away. That could be make people angry even insane.…

No battle was fought at Valley Forge, yet it was the turning point in the Revolutionary War because it gave the army a backbone, made the soldiers stronger for upcoming battles, and helped them win alliance with the French. It was here that the Continental Army was hopelessly drenched. After the battles they had fought, Valley Forge gave them another reason to give up. They arrived bloody, beaten, and war-torn. What would you expect from an army who went through these difficulties and yet, life throws them the winter of Valley Forge. To the point of giving up, the army stood their ground and kept on fighting for their independence. Without the winter at Valley Forge, Britain would still have power over us. Because of the results of Valley…

In “The Liar” by Tobias Wolff, the main character uses lies as a way of getting revenge on his mother, to make him feel better about his father’s death. James is trying to get revenge on his mother, because of her mistreatment and lack of presence throughout his childhood. The first time James realizes that his lies have had an effect on her is when he says, “She felt lonely in her confusion but didn't call anyone because she also felt like a failure. My lying had that effect on her. She took it personally… She thought that she had made a mess of her family" (45). The fact that she “felt like a failure” and that “she took [his lies] personally,” tells us that James has accomplished his goal for his lies to hurt his mother. James also mentions…

-"It's said that some time ago a Columbia University instructor used to issue a harsh two part question. One:What book did you most dislike in the course? Two: What intellectual or characterological flaws in you does that dislike point to? the hand that framed that question was surly heavy. BUt at least it complex one to see intellectual work as a confrontation between two people, student and author, where the stakes matter. These Columbia students were being asked to relate the quality of an encounter, not rate that action as though it had unfolded on the big screen. (2)…

I continued to cut his toes off as screams scratched their way up his throat like they were just dying to get out. "Tell me all of the men Victoria Summers has contacted since August thirteenth! Living Like Weasels

    • 252 Words

In the essay Living Like Weasels, Annie Dillard argues that a person should live life with a purpose and with tenacity like the Weasel does. The essay begins with Dillard describing how a Weasel has a tenacity to hold on to a prey’s neck or when it feels in danger, and would accept death at the talons of an eagle to keep his tenacity alive. Dillard goes on to describe her walk to Murray’s pond her favorite place to be in nature to forget about the world as she is relaxing on a tree trunk a Weasel appears in front of her. The encounter left the two dumbfounded for a brief moment in time; furthermore, the encounter left Annie to wonder how a Weasel thinks. Dillard acquires a new insight on how a Weasel lives as he should, by necessity, and she suspects that is the answer to live by for her. Dillard states, “I missed my chance. I should have gone for the throat.” indicating her opportunity to change her live may have already passed; she uses this example to support her statement that people should live the way they want “yielding to their necessity”, rather than by choice. Dillard concludes with telling the reader to grasp to their necessity and live the way they want to, for not even death can tear you apart when you have chosen how you want to live, just like the eagle did not tear the Weasel a part from his…

    Satire On Campus Analysis

Loyal Torch followers will remember that back in 2010, Audaer, a law student at Syracuse's College of Law, was subjected to a prolonged and wrongheaded disciplinary investigation for allegedly running an anonymous satirical blog about life in law school. In the style of The Onion, the blog attributed obviously fake quotes to students, faculty, and staff at the College of Law and generally made fun of life in law school. Even though the blog included a disclaimer making clear that "No actual news stories appear on the site," the College of Law threatened Audaer with harassment charges for more than three months, and, making matters worse, refused to reveal the identity of his accusers or what expression in particular had justified the charges. When Audaer and his attorney attempted to receive information from Syracuse about the charges, the law school brazenly demanded that they sign a gag order that would have effectively prevented any media from reporting on the case using this information and effectively prevented Audaer from interviewing witnesses. For allegedly engaging in purely protected speech, Audaer was even threatened with…
