Summary Of Joseph Griffith's Surrender
In the painting “Surrender” created by Joseph Griffith it shows how America is portrayed to other countries. We have our iconic “heros” against the “villains”. If you look deeper into the painting though you will see America is not as pure as it seems. Within the painting there are multiple TV stars and items that are very well known from America. For example there is the Kool-Aid man, Waldo, and Prince. The most recent generation of up-coming adults grew up with these figures. They are portrayed as “heroes” to them.
Every hero needs a villain to fight though. The so called villains in this painting are people from the middle east, mostly Muslims. America has basically marketed the idea to newer generations that these people are the villains
