(Text, 398) This statement correlates strongly with Loretta Claiborne’s claim about bullying. When students have trouble socializing with peers, they can end up being bullied. Next the textbook states that students should be given the opportunity to have positive social interactions. The video resonated to this when it mentioned the program where regular students go and speak to students with intellectual disabilities. It seemed to work in Loretta’s story about the principal that told her the program decreased bullying 60%. I believe the video connect with the book “Far From the Tree” by correlating with the “deaf” chapter. Both communities are unheard when it comes to certain issues, and both need supporters so that they can live the life they deserve. While the deaf community was unheard because of being deaf, people with intellectual disabilities are unheard because people do not consider their opinions valid.
