However, if I wrote the same paper and made sure to preference it by specific dates, then my facts would be true and without variance, because of the specificity of my statement. Statistics are also used and accepted in research papers as truth, however, they can fall victim to the same example I lifted previously and can also be undermined by bias. Bias can influence any research as a result of a writers affinity for a particular topic. My paper is subject to bias, because I feel strongly in one direction about the subject; this can cause a writer to choose statistics that only support a particular point of view and taint the objectivity of the writing.
