Summary Of The Book 'Sheep' By Valerie Hobbs
I am Yeung Pik Ting from 5M. My book is Sheep by Valerie Hobbs. I am going to do task 1 – A Character and me. The main character, Jack, always feel nostalgic. He missed his original owner, Bob and the sheep living with him for his whole life. He never forgets how Bob took good care of him and how comfortable his life was with those sheep. I am similar to Jack because I always feel nostalgic too. I miss my primary school life so much and I feel happy and sad at the same time when I look back to my primary school times. However, besides this similarity, I have nothing similar to Jack any more. Jack is a hopeful and optimistic dog. I am a total opposite of Jack. Jack believes that there is always a silver lining in the darkest of a cloud. Even though he had been tricked by the two thieves, Snatch and Hollerin, he still told himself that there are still many people would want a dog like him and maybe California, the place that Snatch and Hollerin were going, was not suitable for him. …show more content…
He never loses his hope. He is so positive that he knows how to cheer himself up even when he is facing so many difficult situations in his life. Unlike Jack, I am a negative person. I always think of the bad side of a situation, even if the situation is actually not that serious. I would give up easily when I am at adversity and when I am the only one to tackle the problems. I would lose my hope soon. I would not be brave enough to do something to save myself. Let me raise a situation and prove that I am really an opposite of Jack. Jack was caught to a circus and was forced to work to entertain the audience. The owner of the circus, Billy, was ruthless to the animals working in the circus and he didn’t treat Jack

William golding uses many imagery and adjective to portray ways that jacks vicious and savage deeds to other group members which proves that he is innately evil in the book. Throughout the novel we see jack and his archenemy and rival which is piggy who is one of the main characters . “Your talking to much .. Shut up, Fatty!” (Golding 28) This shows that jack is deprived to make someone feel amused about themselves. This relates to the question because it really shows that jacks is really innately evil because all jacks wants to show that he has power and can rule and especially to the people he hates like piggy, he would do anything to hurt him and make him feel bad cause piggy. Another example is after piggy died and the conch being destroyed…

Throughout his childhood, Jack's constant state of relocation coupled with his lack of a steady patriarchal figure cause him to stagnant in his "male" development. Since Jack only has one constant figure to learn from (his mother) while he is growing up, he never properly learns many of the life lesson that are part of becoming a man. This is similar to the child whose parents always allow him to quite a sport that he struggles with rather than forcing him to improve and suffer defeat along the way. Jack's lack of a father figure never allows him to learn those hard "male" lessons about growing up.…

The fact that everyone is either dead or mentally unstable leaves him asking himself what he could've done differently to yield different and better results. Lastly the fact that not all the boys will go back to their families devastates him deeply. Jack doesn't like to confer with others probably because of how he was treated previously in the book. "I don't know. He didn't say. He got angry and made us tie Wilfred up," (Pg 159). At the beginning of the book Jack would talk and confer about his ideas and what he was thinking about. But now at the end of the book he is shut off all communications and leaves the presence of others. I believe this was caused by the way Ralph assumed power over him and did not let him make any decisions for the boys. This is another reason why. Jack became so upset with Ralph at the end of the book wanting to cut his head off, put it on a stick and feed it to the beast. Even though Ralph knows he is losing the fight, he continues to be arrogant and cocky. "I gave one of 'em what for, I smashed him up alright. He won't want to come and fight us again in a hurry," (Pg…

Jack represents evil and violence, the dark side of human nature. A former choirmaster and "head boy" at his school, he arrived on the island having experienced some success in exerting control over others by dominating the choir with his military attitude. He is eager to make rules and punish those who break them, although he consistently breaks them himself for his own interests. His main interest is hunting, which begins with the desire for meat and builds to the overwhelming urge to master and kill other living creatures. Hunting develops the savagery that already ran close to his surface, making him "ape-like" as he prowls through the jungle.…

Everyone in the story struggles with their own reality, I believe that love is the cause of the struggle. Throughout the story everyone lies, whether it be about where they were or who they are.
