Baptista says that he is looking for teachers for both his daughters; Lucentio accidently overhears Baptista saying this so Lucentio and his servant devise a plan to disguise themselves as latin tutor named cambio, and Gremio decides to disguise himself and Lucentio. They chose to devise this plan so they can both try to marry Bianca behind Baptista Minolas back. Petruchio arrives in Padua with his servant grumio. Pertuchios purpose of being in Padua is to find someone to marry. Hortensio overhears this and uses this opportunity to convince and persuade petruchio to instead become a suitor for Katherina. Hortensio shouts “hey Petruchio my friend, we haven’t seen each other in years, I will be honest with you I know how to find a unpleasant and bad tempered wife for you. You might not want to go through with this but she is very rich. You are not forced to do this but it’s all your decision if you want her”. “Hortensio, if this woman is very rich, that’s all I need.
