In politics everybody thinks democrats and republicans are enemies.
But they would not be able to agree on anything if they didn’t think a little a like. They might have some differences but they have to work with each other and make a better country. LIke now the republicans have significantly more people in the house of representatives. In inherit the wind the bible and the book of darwin are being compared and pushed against each other. But for things to work out you have to accept whatever the other person thinks. Just like how the democrats and republicans agree on a lot of things because they accept what the other people
think.
In the telecom world there are 2 really big businesses. Directv and at&t, they were really big competitors for a long time and were both doing very well. They decided to join forces to destroy the competition. This worked out for both of them and they made a huge profit. In inherit the wind Drummond accepted both books and slaps them together. He does this because he thinks he could use things from the bible and darwin just like how at&t can use directv and vice versa. A lot of companies could grow if they merged with someone.
In inherit the wind Drummond is weighing out the two books comparing them and he decides to stop comparing. So he slaps them together and walks out smiling. What drummond means when he does this is he wants to stop comparing, he wants to combine to ideas to make one great one. In comparison to this democrats and republicans are very different and still work together. As well as that Directv and at&t were rivals and than they joined forces to make a great internet provider. All in all accepting others ideas and working with them is how you make a dream come true.
