Thesis statement: Isolation is the beginning process that causes depression, therefore, it is important to understand the person’s point of view and help throughout the problems. Annotated Bibliography The general argument made by Debbie Roome in his article “The Damaging Effect of Social Isolation” is that parents should notice any suspicious acts from their child because they can be experiencing social anxiety/isolation without them knowing.
More specifically, she argues that isolation may be the cause of teenager being antisocial because they are going through anxiety or getting bullied at school. She writes “ Depression is another prime cause of isolation. A depressed teen loses interest in everyday activities and drops out of social groups at school.” In this passage, Roome is suggesting that many of teens that deal with depression may have less interest on doing anything they’ll just want to be home all day and do be alone.
