Since everyone has to eat something in order to survive it just makes you think about how much sweets you eat. Here are a few things that I do agree with. The studies that the Chicago Tribune included were really interesting not only that but it was helpful to know about these topics. Now these studies were credible because they were done by institutes that had a lot of knowledge on that topic. A study that stood out the most to me was that 71% of Americans get more than the recommended amount of sugar per day (Chicago Tribune, par. 7). In an article “The Truth about Sugar” they stated that said some athletes need sugar to perform their best (Stack, par. 10).
Another thing that I disagree with is a when the author states that we need to stop the food companies from adding so much added sugar and we the consumers need to stop eating so much of it. Of course I agree to the part of the sentence but the second part is a little harsh to me. The way it comes off in the article is cruel and I would say many people might take offense to it. I don’t think that the author has any right to tell us what we should or shouldn’t eat.
Lastly the way most Americans are brought up around food. Our party’s and gatherings almost always involve food. We even have a holiday which is Thanksgiving, where we just gore on all types of foods and desserts. When we have birthday parties we always have something sweet to eat like cake and ice cream. So you could say that you learn from a young age to enjoy sweets and, most of the time not in moderation. These are just my personal opinions about how we should not be personal blamed about our sweet
