“ This boy had disobeyed his mother so La Llorona visited him and told him that if he does not stop she will visit him again when he argues with his mother again and it would not be good.”(Kathy Weiser 2012) Some people do not want to speak of the horror that she did so they just say that she will visit the children if they do not obey their mothers. Nowadays people like to keep their children pure and full of only positive things so having a visit from La Llorona is way better than being drowned. “A version says that Maria's lover was a Spaniard, and for this their love was forbidden, even by the Church, so even tho they both had 2 children. The importance of it being written this way is to put an emphasis on the fact that it wasn’t Maria’s selfishness that made her drown her kids it was the rules that were set. “Maria wanted to cross the border with her two kids but her plan didn’t work out the way she wanted so they had a very hard time getting across. One of her kids became ill so she thought it was better if she buried him somewhere along the way. She needed money but the only opportunity was to sell herself which was not an option for her. She saw a carnival and decided to leave her two remaining kids there and run away.
