As a teaching assitant my main role is to support the class teacher whilst the ongoing assessment of pupils takes place. The teacher can measure the progress of each pupil by carrying out lessons and setting the children clear learning objectives. At the beginning of the lesson the learning support practitioner will need to be aware ob the learning objective and need to know what they are going to be supporting, once they know this then they will be able to show the children what they are going to do and how to achieve it. The day to day planning and lesson plans are the main responsibilities of the class teacher, but feedback and input from the teaching assistant can help the teacher structure the planned lessons. As well as the teacher having more responsibility in relation to their planning we both work together to ensure that all children achieve their targets and both carry out observations of the children in their class. By carrying out observations this gives factual feedback to the teacher to show exactly what stage each child is a, if they need extra support and how to get them to their targets.…

The main role of the teacher is that of facilitator of learning by leading discussions, asking open-ended questions, guiding process and task and enabling participation of the learners. They must also provide students with the opportunity to take charge of their learning, encourage the discovery of new ideas, to gain insight into their studies and make connections. Students need to have a focus to be successful in their learning and it is the Teacher who should guide the students to have focus. Teachers should see themselves as the facilitators for learning. Those who possess knowledge and not the keepers of knowledge. They need to be able to adopt a range of skills and roles to suit specific situations. Teachers have to meet the needs of every student, have an understanding of their preferred learning styles so that lessons can be presented in varied formats to offer students the opportunity of finding the style that suits him or her best. The goal is to engage the students through the strongest mode of learning while also strengthening the weaker ones. There are four different styles (modes) of learning aural, visual, read/write and kinaesthetic. I try to encompass all of these styles within my lessons so each student has an equal chance of learning and understanding.…

Nowadays, people have various views about possessing firearms. It cannot be denied that firearms are often a big danger. One of the numerous examples is the school shooting on April 20, 1999 at Columbine High school that ended in a massacre. In this essay, I will discuss three arguments that indicates why I am against firearms. Firstly, weapon possession creates more crime. Secondly, a firearm could end up by mentally ill people, even when it is bought legally. At last, most of the time, citizens are not able to defend themselves with firearms. Planning: As a teaching assistant, I assist the teacher in planning for lessons by first having an informal discussion with the teacher in order to determine what the learning objectives are for the upcoming topics, so both I and the teacher know what the learning outcomes are and what is expected of the children. If I sometimes miss work the teacher sometimes emails me with a breakdown of lesson plans for the week so I can prepare for it and so I know what has been covered in the days I was absent. During this discussion I am able to put forth my ideas on how best I think the topic should be delivered and what groups of children I should sit next to provide additional support as they may struggle the most. Discussing and planning the activities beforehand gives me an idea of what needs to be done before the lesson and during the lesson. By doing this it helps me be in control of my group as I know what needs to be done.…

I play a key role in supporting the children with their activities after the teacher’s input. I usually support smaller, lower ability groups. I find out from the teacher about our activities beforehand, how is the lesson organized and or what is my specific role in the learning activity. I would prepare the resources needed for the particular lesson ahead, often while the teacher is providing the input for the children and do necessary photocopying or sticking pupil’s work into their books.…
