Again, in Sun Tzu’s, Art of War, Sun Tzu said: “Hence the experienced soldier, once in motion, is never bewildered; once he has broken camp, he is never at a loss.” Sun Tzu, a great philosopher, is referencing more than just a soldier. One who has experienced an event prior, will have a greater chance of being successful; thus, one’s identity can be largely affected by gaining experience. In a TED Talk, this time given by a man named Christopher Ategeka, the topic of adoption is discussed. Christopher talks about his past experiences prior to becoming the man he is today. He speaks about how when he was young, his parents past away and left him in poverty. Eventually, he found a foster home, and was finally adopted. His adoptive family have him the chance to, “experience a new culture, acquire an education, and live up to my full potential” (TED). Christopher was exposed to the terrible, and the great, all within a matter of years. This experience propelled him to be successful because his vision of diversity.
