had a different perspective in how he saw life. The way McCandless saw life was special. His friends said, “ Chris invented this workout he called Road Warriors”(Krakauer, 7). They said chris would take them on runs and would run as fast as they could, down weird roads and when they recognized a street they would book it back home as fast a they could. They said, “In a certain sense, that’s how Chris lived his entire life”(Krakauer,7). Chris impacted his friends by motivating them to keep running. In his journey he ran into people, and it seemed liked every time he got to know someone he made them emotional once he left. Ron Franz, an elderly man he met in Salton City, wanted to adopt Chris because of how much chris pushed him to do things like climb a mountain and because Chris sad that he did not have any parents. But Chris had a Journey to finish, his last stop was Alaska. Chris had such a long journey, He’s travel so many places and met so many people. People that wanted to help him and give him materials for his journey. But Chris didn’t there money or materials. In the beginning Chris burned his money. He was not a lazy bum. He worked for his money, he would call Wayne Westerberg and say, “ He wanted to work in the grain elevator for a while, just long enough to put together a little grubstake”(Krakauer,5). He need to buy new Gear for his trip to Alaska. That’s the only way he knew how to get money, is by working. Adam Shepherd was a Hardworking man who was starting from scratch. His purpose was to achieve the American Dream by starting over with only “One 8’x10’ tarp, a sleeping bag, an empty gym bag, $25, and the clothes on my back”.(Shepherd, xiv). He moved to Charleston, South Carolina and lived in Crisis Ministries. He had to learn how to adapt to the new lifestyle which consisted of him learning how to share the bathroom, shower and sleeping space. Of course, like every other person, it got annoying but he had to learn how to cope with it until he got a job. One of Shepherds struggles were finding a job.
He was a bit picky when it came to choosing a job, because he didn’t like the hourly pay. He said “ Even though I was in no position to be greedy with my salary, $6.50 was lower than i was looking for.” But if Shepherd needed a job so badly he should've taken the job while trying to find a new. You can say he was a stubborn man. Unlike McCandless, Shepherd never traveled anywhere. In a way shepherd really never impacted anyone, it was more like people impacted him. He looked up to people , rather than people looking up to him. He looked up to Derrick because he was great at his job. Adams goal was to achieve the “American Dream”, but really the American Dream is where you feel like you are stable and feel comfortable in your life. In conclusion, Chris and Adam both had the dream to achieve the American Dream But both accomplished it in a different way. McCandless showed that he was admirable and had a Greater purpose, because in all, he impacted people and met a lot of people all over the U.S and
Canada.
