Falls, Iowa. This was a classical recital being performed. The reason I chose to attend this recital, I saw on the website one of the instruments being played was a piano. The first performance of this recital was a song “Sigma Alpha Iota Chorale” by Margaret Blackburn Arr. E.K.W. Xi Chapter 1946, sung by Linnea Casey, Stephanie Thimmesch, Tori Piper, Katie McCray, Elizabeth Schlotfeldt, Michaella Garringer, Hayley Graham, Casey Dirksen, Kayla Flemming, Jennie Pine and Allison Haag. The melody was soprano followed by the alto’s rhythm was steady the texture was monophonic. The song “Caliente” by Cristopher Caliendo was performed on flute by Linnea Casey & Stephanie Thimmesch. Bach was performed by Katie McCrary on the piano. I felt the dynamics was moderately loud, the form was repetition, and the texture was monophonic. The genre is classical being from the 1600-1700’s, and the rhythm was lively. “Jingle Bells” by James Pierpont was performed by Kayla Flemming and Jennie Pine on the cello, and violin. They first started playing the instruments with their fingers, which gave the melody of the song a bass pitch. They both started using the bows to continue the song. I felt like the violin had a soprano pitch, and the cello had more of an alto pitch to the melody. The rhythm was smooth, and the texture was homophonic. This song “Autumnal Flower” was written and performed by Allison Haag on the piano, in remembrance of her cousin that recently passed away. This piece was classical. The texture was monophonic, with a moderate tempo. I felt the dynamics of this song was both moderately soft and moderately loud at times. The form of this song had a variation and repetition to
