The Kidnapping
You'll Never Guess The End is written by Barbara Wersba. This book is about a young teenager named Joel. His story is that out of the ordinary, as his older brother becomes a celebrity overnight. JJ, his brother, lived the life of a typical teenager. Sleepless nights, video games and flirting with girls was part of his daily routine. Joel has lived in his brothers shadow ever since, as his parents mainly focused on JJ and his fame. Till one day, things happen and that changed everyone's life's.

Joel was never paid much attention recently and all he wants is someone to notice him. JJ’s ex ends up being kidnapper and he sees that as an opportunity to prove himself. As him and his bloodhound, Sherlock, set out on the adventure to bring her back. One thing I didn't like about the main character, Joel, was that he wanted to outgrow his childhood. He believed nobody ever listen to him because he was just a kid. He wanted to grow older and mature quick out of fear from ‘not being good enough.’ That is what I believe is the theme of the story, maturing up too quick. In my opinion, I don't believe in the theme that someone should have to outgrow their childhood. When it came down it, Joel's parents would always put JJ first on their priorities. All Joel wanted was to be someone special with a great future in life. He wanted to feel noticed, but JJ beat him to it. “ – my brother who was a college dropout and minor criminal – it was me, Joel, who was showing up for life. Not JJ.
