I was always interested in basketball, but I never knew the proper rules for it. That didn’t stop me though. I practiced everyday and I would learn the rules for basketball. Eventually I came to a conclusion that I was going to try out for AAU basketball. I was having doubts in my mind about trying out though, because I was scared I wasn’t talented enough. So I had to practice a lot before the tryout till I was satisfied with my skills and what not. The tryout wasn’t extremely hard but it was tiring. The only way I knew I could make the team is if I keep up with the players. It wasn’t too hard and I just had to prove individually that I was capable of playing with this team. I had overcome my nervousness quickly though, because I didn’t have time to be a scared player. Once I got the hang of it, I became one of strong points of the team. I wasn’t a captain but I had to step up and be a leader when the team was hurt. It’s a great feeling of accomplishments when you help your team win the game. The competition at AAU is sometimes trouble also. Whether the team plays good as a whole, or has star players. So you have to be brave when your teammates are tired and step up so everybody can see how much effort you’re trying to put in. My teammates respected me on the court because I wasn’t selfish with the ball; I was a great team
