In this movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Clementine Kruczynski and Joel Barish they meet, became lovers, and got tired of each other. Through out their relationship it begin to just get worsens. They then both decided to get their memories erased of each other from their minds at Lacuna Inc.
In traditional romance movies they are usually about a romantic love story. The themes are usually love at first sight, love between younger people, obsessive and more. One of the types of love would be storage because Joel and Clementine relationship kind of developed overtime. Mania is also a type of love that is expressed in this relationship because when Joel sees Clementine after her memory has been erased, she was in a new relationship with a guy name Patrick and that made him kind of jealous, especially when Patrick steals Joel’s memories and uses them on Clementine.
In the scene where he regrets the procedure and wants it to be stopped it proves to the viewers that they can not run away from there problems or take the easy way out. You will always face good and bad times and when it comes to trying to reject the negative people it will never result in happiness, and especially when it is dealing with the loss of the happy memories you have with someone.
Relationships and experiences are part of what makes us who we are, and when the pain is gone away, we have lost a part of ourselves. In the end it shows that even if Joel and Clementine do not get back together they did once have something worth remembering. They will also be able to learn from their past mistakes weather or not if they decide to move on with each other or try something with someone else.
