“Waiting for Superman” isn’t about a hero coming to the rescue and saving everybody. Throughout this documentary, made by Davis Guggenheim, there were interviews with little kids that would soon capture your own hearts. Sometime in our future, when people from this generation are at their 60s', people will wonder if they had made a change in the world to be better. Some will ask what could've they done to make a mark in history. While others could only wish to be someone they are not. And only a few will not have that question of emptiness. People make their own contributions in their own ways. Two characters that demonstrate these are Jason M. Clark of Illinois and Amy G. Santiago of California. Both have different professions but share the same purpose.…

“It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no its Superman!” For decades comic book characters such as Superman, The Incredible Hulk, Batman, and Wonder Woman have captured the imaginations of American children and adults alike. “Superheroes,” they have been coined. But these figures only exist in our imaginations. Batman is not really there to save us from villains such as the Joker and the Riddler. Because these heroes are fictional, we are left without real life heroes… or are we? The answer is clearly no. Heroes are all around us. They can be courageous, intelligent, strong or daring, but heroes to me are selfless and brave.…

A person’s view of a hero can and will change drastically over time to reflect their evolution of consciousness. One example would be how a young child has fictional heroes, like Superman, Batman, Ironman, and others. However, they will learn and evolve their consciousness to realize that those heroes are made up, stories and realize new heroes, like Washington, Jefferson, and police officers. This is backed up by Oliver Stone when he said, “ But as I’ve gotten older, and since I’ve been to war, I’ve been forced to reexamine the nature of life and heroism.” Showing that as people mature they need to rethink what they have been through when they think of their hero's. Stone latter stated that his hero's changed to people like scientists…
