The methodology applied for data collection is both primary and secondary methods. For primary data collection, techniques used are mainly interviews of the personnel of Star Inn Hotel and observation. Inventory records have also been assimilated. For collection of secondary data, the website for Star Inn Hotel has been used. The other sources are periodicals and magazines for the hospitality and catering sector.
Findings
One of the findings is that Star Inn Hotel applies forecasting in inventory management. It also applies aggregate planning in operations management and IT. All those applications have enabled the hotel to increase profitability. However, there are challenges such as high costs of migrating to the new system and staff training costs.
Conclusion and recommendations
The conclusion is that Star Inn Hotel has boosted its revenues and profits from some applications. The recommendations are that other players in the industry should adopt similar measures albeit carefully to avoid occasional losses. Such losses are occasioned by system failures.
