The first thing I will discuss is cost. Cost is always an important issue that must be addressed for a business. A product that does not have an equal or gain return when compared to its cost would be considered a poor financial decision. Prices for each vendor vary with each vendor offering a variety of options for customers. I have found that one of the three companies would offer a particular service that the other three would not offer. I have found that the vendor Red Hat had two options for purchase. According to (Purchasing red hat,), the price given for one year is $3,249 per socket pair and for a three year contract it is $9,260 per socket pair. Both options have unlimited guest. Now looking at Novell on their prices, (Open enterprise server,) states that Novell Cluster Services 1.7/1.8 for Netware 6.5 and Open Enterprise Server Cluster Server License is $12,000. Ubuntu is the last of the vendors that I have price checked and according to (Server management,), Ubuntu charges $1,200 per server per year. Each company provides us with costs that might seem a little excessive for our company. The services they provided will be worth the money we spend or invest in this purchase.…

With only three stores, their company is structured with only a few departments: Administration, consisting of Finance & Accounting, Sales & Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, and Information Technology. With only three locations, Kudler does not need an extensive organization. They currently have a Bus Topology implemented that does not allow the stores to communicate with each other. The networks are separate and if a network server goes down, there are not any backups or securities set up. The ability to communicate wirelessly will give Kudler some mobility and will allow the locations to be centralized. The La Jolla and Del Mar locations each have a Novel 4.11 Server for POS as well as a UPS-Standalone tower, a bublejet printer, and a 56k modem. Their six computers are hooked up to a 10.1.50.0 Ethernet Network and all systems use the Ethernet Network to hook on to the Internet. The Encinitas location has a Novell 4.11 Server for POS as well. Their location is a bit smaller with only three computers. Their network includes a 56k modem and Internet.…

Business continuity planning and disaster recovery capability will become compulsory for all healthcare business for the first time in the United States healthcare industry. The health insurance portability and accountability act (HIPAA) that was passed by the United States congress in 1996 has a part of its phased implementation "Security Guidelines," which refers to information security. This section dictates that all healthcare organizations who use healthcare data must meet the terms of business continuity and data security standards within two years. The final guideline on this subject was published late 2000 in the federal register. The implementation of the said security guidelines in business continuity requirement is expected from as early as 2001. The strategic goal of this legislative mandate is to reduce the cost in the healthcare area by standardizing data processing. This has been done as an introduction to founding a centralized clearing-house for processing claims, almost the same as the financial industry. Business continuity management is important for healthcare organizations since they could be in situations where their normal operations have been compromised concurrently with an increase in the community’s demand for their services.…
