SUPPORTING STATEMENT
I have excellent written and verbal communication skills. In my present job as a Parenting Support Practitioner in a Family Support Role I work with children and families providing various forms of social work intervention.
I work on a referral basis with parents of children considered to be at risk of poor outcomes. Typical issues in the families I support are that the children have parents who are offenders (including those in prison), have experienced domestic violence, or have mental health or drug and alcohol problems. This role has meant that I have not only worked with children and their parents, I have also worked with their extended families, teachers and health care services. In this role I also organise and supervise Contact on several occasions which has included transporting family members and arranging the activities they do during this time..

I have over 20 years’ experience working directly with children and their families. I achieved a NVQ level three in caring for young people and children in 2005, which is equivalent to NNEB qualifications. I am also willing to undertake further training where it is necessary. I have completed an access to teaching training course following that I then completed two years of BED honours degree in primary education. This included numeracy and literacy work at an intermediate level.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Since working in Social care for the London borough of Hackney I have gained substantial experience and knowledge while working according to the children's act 1989.
I have gained a rich understanding of child development and various needs of children.
I work with a diverse client group and am able to deliver a service according to their different religious and cultural needs.
In my previous job I worked as a share care worker for Barnardo's a registered child protection agency. This role involved working with a range of SEN children on a one to one basis and their key
