In the passage “Politics and the English Language”, Orwell states, “I think the following rules will cover most cases” after he included some of the rules, which assist us to advance the way we write. One of the rules states, “Never use a long word where a short one will do”. “ It’s like teaching a stunt to an animal--a four-legged creature might prance on two legs or a two-legged creature might fall onto four.” The drifting represents putting off words and pointing in different directions represents getting one’s meaning clear. So basically what this mean is that people in the society that is presented today has to use words that have a meaning to it. People this days don’t speak the proper way that they were taught in school. They speak the way the language was presented to them when they were a child.
