In the 20th century many adults gets a divorce. 40 years ago very few got a divorce, a relationship ended when his/her partner died. Back then it was striking, when a couple got a divorce, and you got a bad reputation in the town you lived in. Now it is not a strange thing to get a divorce, it happens every day. When something goes wrong in their relationship, they get a divorce. No one fights for love anymore. If love dos not succeed first time they try, they give up and find a new partner. When a couple gets a divorce, they often forget their children, how they feel about it. Children’s biggest nightmare is when their parents get a divorce. They don’t ask their children how they feel about a divorce, they just have to follow either their mom, or their dad. If they are lucky they can visit one of their parents every second weekend. In this story Susan’s mom and dad get a divorce, but they forget how Susan feels about this., and how she thinks about a divorce. She gets very sad, and confused, and think it is her fault that this divorce happens. The story is written Elionor Russel Smith, and was published in 1997. A 1.Person narrator tells the story, with Susan’s point off view. P. 1, line 7: “I asked her”. The story takes place in the northern U.S.A. On page 1, line 18 “We picked honeysuckle and red Campion along the lane”. Honeysuckle and red Campion grows in the northern U.S.A. The story takes place on the countryside, because Susan’s family got horses, fields and a vegetable garden, you see that on page 1, ll. 9-11. “When I needed her, I always looked first in the vegetable garden, second in the potting shed and third in the field with the horses”. I think the story takes place in the 60’s 70’s. On page 3 ll. 126-128, it says:” A huge pile of washing against the back door means we have to come in and out by the front door. Father doesn't understand the washing machine”. People began to get a washing machine in the 60’s and 70’s,
