“According to the most recent figures, 60% of the restaurants fail within three years of the operation and others show the figure as high as 90%” (Ramy, 2008). A company cannot control all these factors of business environments for example domestic environment, global environment, political-legal environment, economic environment, technology environment and others.
Domestic Environment
Market analysis is one of the factors in domestic environment. Market analysis is to understand what challenges will be faced when operating in international or local markets. A company needs to invest a large amount of resources to analyze which products are most likely to be purchase by customers and distinguish themselves from their competitors. In the domestic environment, a firm can often predict customer preferences more easily. Firms must be close to their customers and build up a strong relationship with suppliers (Melanie, 2015). For example, Sushi King has many franchises but they have controlled well to face many competitors. Although Sushi King is the first company to introduce Japanese fast food in Malaysia, they have a vision to expand their outlets and branding regionally.
