1. What is a computer network?
A computer network consits of a number of computers linked together using special ha`rdware and software to enable them to share computing resources.
2. List four main hardware and three software components on a network. 1. Hardware -Personal computers, mainframes, printers, and navigational control systems. 2. Software - Application software, desktop software, and networking operating systems.
3. Explain two main advantages of networking computers.
- Remote areas can be connected to share information.
- Information can be generated by a single user, and can be shared world wide instantaneously.
4. Distinguish between analog and digital signals. 1. Analog - Real-world signal which varies continuously. 2. Digital - Electrical signal that represents binary information.
5. List the two words that were used to derive the word modem.
- Modulator & Demodulator.
6. Describe the signals modems must handle.
Both analog and digital signals. It is capable of converting digital computer signals to analog transmission signals and vise versa.
7. Explain the difference between serial and parallel transmission.
Serial Transmission - Sends one bit at a time.
Parallel Transmission - Sends several bits at a time.
8. Give one advantage and one disadvantage for parallel transmission.
Advantage - Much faster then a serial transmission.
Disadvantage - Costs are more expensive.
9. Synchronous and asynchronous transmission is based on timing. Explain. Synchronous - A single clock must control the sender and reciever of information in order that they send and recieve data at specified times. Rarely used with modems because synchronizing clocks between two modems is very difficult. Asynchronous - Sends information when available, rather than only when signalled by the recieving modem.
10. State one specific application of synchronous

    The quest of which is better the book or the movie version depends on the mindset of the viewer/reader in this video it will be argued that the movie version of ricky-ticki-tavi is better than the book a comparison will be made of the setting and character are developed in the book and film firstly it is necessary to compare the plot of the book and the film version the plot in the movie version of ricki-ticki-taviis is a fast moving and creates a lot of excitement and intense the early scene in the film focus on developing the major characters such as teddy and nag. There are stiring scenes of the bungolo as nag trys to attack teddy and ricki ticki kills him we are exposed to thrill and exitment of the fight theses sense are very bloody and action packed and adventurist. The clilimax is thrilling and comes when ricki ticki attacks Nag. The plot in the in the book version is more descriptive and drawn out than the movie version the reader is frovided a lot of information about history of the mongoose. The early chapters focus on developing the major characters and describing the mongose. It is not until halfway through the novel that the fist snake is enconted the book goes into great detail about the family and ricki ticki. The setting and characters are developed in an entertaining and humorous way regarding in the film version ricki-ticki-tavi the settings there are many shots of the bungolo, garden, jungle. This builds anticipation of the snake hunt to come the snake killing scenes are action packed and very tensese much use is made of the dramatic soundtrack as the snake goes in the hole and ricki-ticki-tavi are presented in a colourful, humorous way. Ricki-ticki-tavi is a playful mongoose who always looks after his family, nangina is a dangerous and snaeky character who wants to kill ricki…
