Swot Analysis/ Foreign Market Entry: Ikea Invades America
Abstact: College students nowadays become a special group which is affected by the environment. Studying their consumption psychology is conducive to study consumer trends in the future. In order to have better understanding of consumer psychology and problems of students at Beijing University of Technology, the study collected the data of students and consumer psychology consumption through questionnaires. We analyze the data by gender, family income and so on. Data show that consumer psychology is influenced by gender,household income,major and grade.Most students at Beijing University of Technology have reasonable consumer psychology and consumer behavior.

Introduction With the development of the market economy, people 's consumption psychology is changing all the time. College students serve as an important social group. Their consumer psychology will have more and more important influence on the social consumption psychology. So, the study need to study college students ' consumption psychology. Consumer psychology points to a series of psychological activity of consumers in the whole process of purchasing behavior. It is the Comprehensive reflection of consumers to objective consumption object and own subjective demand. There have been many surveys about college students ' consumption psychology. Some think the college students ' consumption psychology is reasonable, and the other part of people think that college students ' consumption psychology is unhealthy. Hanqin Fang(2006) showed college students kept a traditional concept of saving, while the consumption idea often reveal its avant-grade. He thought College students ' consumption idea and consumption patterns were more representative, he represented a trend.Ji Gao(2008)considered“College students ' consumption have a strong practical color.On the premise of reasonable consumption, they will choose

    Consumer behavior is defined in a variety of ways such as “the dynamic interaction of affect and cognition, behavior and environmental events by which human beings conduct the exchange aspects of their lives.” by the American Marketing Association. (2008). In a simpler form, consumer behavior can be explained as the actions of consumers and the different approaches a person may take to decide what to buy and the decision making process. The decision making process can be effected by many factors all related to a person or persons lifestyle. Determining that behavior can be confusing and marketers need to use research techniques to understand the consumer. Understanding the intent to buy, buying process and post purchase issues from a marketing perspective raises many questions and is an in-depth process. “The basic marketing concept hold’s that firms exist to satisfy consumers’ needs.” (2004, Solomon). Once that basic concept is understood, an organization can focus on key goals to achieve a competitive advantage. Marketing strategies are used to gain better understanding of the market, consumers, environment, supply and demand and competition. The behaviors of consumers such as personality, emotions, attitudes, learning style, and perception of the consumer helps companies design their marketing techniques. External influences are also need to be studied and factors such as culture and sub-culture, demographics, social status, and family structure helps understand the decision making process of the consumer’s behavior. For marketing strategy to succeed, the insight to the consumer’s decision-making process is a good starting point.…

    According to Benz and Benz in “Consumerism and Social Mobility”, there are several advantages and disadvantages to consumerism. The first advantage of consumerism is that due to high competition among companies, prices of goods are decreased to encourage more expenditure. The second advantage of consumerism is the diversity of choices which helps people easily choose the most suitable goods for their life at an affordable price. Last but not least, people have a comfortable lifestyle through consumerism. In contrast, there are two disadvantages to consumerism. One disadvantage of consumerism is personal debt which comes from the habit of spending too much money to purchase material goods. As a matter of fact, some people are even willing to borrow money from the bank in order to obtain the newest piece of technology or just some new trend that is going on. Therefore, they fall into debt. In addition, people also want to buy a lot of luxury things because they believe that real happiness comes from the value of material goods. Not only do they believe that happiness comes from luxury things but they also want to be praised and recognize as an unique and modern person among the community based on the value of goods they possess. Thus, they think that they must buy more and more brand-name products to improve their image in the eyes of others. The other disadvantage of consumerism is the foreign debt. Consequently, the arrear of money to the bank they must pay is much more than what they earn in income, which has become a national problem that negatively affected the entire nation.
