Sofa Empire (SE) has been riding a growth spurt, having discovered a niche in the market to provide superior quality and design sofa and other furniture at the most competitive price. There is a lack of custom sofa retail enterprise and SE will be entering the market having two major competitors. These retailers are expensive and impractical to the average Jamaican customer bearing the climate of the economy. SE will offer products that will be affordable while being designed to the customer preference.
SE will not only offer custom goods, but will also develop a signature line sofa that will revolutionize the market. Additionally, occasionally SE will garner inspiration from other sofa designs base on the trends in the market giving the fact

The premise of this business plan is that “Sofa Empire” might benefit from converting the marketing strategy and business operation from a retail outlet for sofa/furniture to an island wide retail outlet for quality and affordable sofas and furniture. Our primary customer base for “Sofa Empire” is the middle to upper class communities and their nearby surrounding neighborhoods. This customer base represents the urban apartment dweller, first-time home buyer, corporate executives, business people, newlyweds, and corporate and Government offices. It serves the avid decorator searching for a unique sofa or center table to complement their room. Sofa Empire serves the average customer who buys sofa on a limited budget and personal dynamic. The average family needs sturdy furniture at a reasonable cost. Condensed, predominately single-living lifestyle associated with the Kingston area makes it an ideal environment for consistent turnover of our products. These same customers need an inexpensive way to buy our products without the hassles of craigslist, appointment setting, telephone screening, and other sales tasks. In many cases, our location makes it is less expensive to purchase and ship our products to customers. The money gained is then used to purchase a more sofas, center tables and ottomans item for our store.
Sofa Empire will be a welcomed addition

Marketing analysis: Haefren Baum sells high quality home furniture, which is manufactured by German company, Wiegandt GmbH Cologne. The demand for high-end furniture is cyclical and influenced by consumer confidence and the overall economy. They have been incorporated since 1970, therefore they do have a reputation and brand image already built. They have been a customer of Wiegandt since 1968 and have maintained good relations so far. The German economy had a bust in 1993, which lead to a decline in furniture sales. This is evident in the sales dropping in 1993 to 1995 from $18,647 to $14,397. Much of the industry has to cut back prices to keep sales volume up. Haefren Baum, being a small retailer was really affected by this price deduction as more competitors entered the market. They built outlets in Rhineland suburban areas to try reaching consumers in the midst of intense competition with a wider selection and reduced prices. Regardless of their efforts in cutting prices and building outlets, the suffered from a (-1.24%) sales growth in 1995 but it was an improvement from (-21.05%) sales growth in 1994. Their market position is deteriorating, because as number of furniture outlets grew by five times, the industry sales were still “soft” even after the economy was recovering in 1995. I believe the sales will remain stagnant because of the increased competition and inability to expand due to tight credit and cash issues.…

Located in downtown Cologne Haefren Baum is a high quality retailer, which recently expanded its operations by opening three retail outlet stores in nearby Rhineland suburban areas. The company carries Wiegandt’s high quality furniture whose furniture is heavily advertised. Since the economic condition has not been steady and new competitors are entering the market Haefren Baum had to decrease its prices in order to maintain sales volume, these challenges (competition, economy) caused a decrease in sales by (-21%) between 93,94, a decrease of( -1.24% )between 94,95. Haefren Baum’s products reflect cyclical demand because others seasons did not cause a decline in sales, but instead the economy and competition. The German recession has slowly been improving, but it has not helped the furniture market, and the future does not look very promising for Haefren since they will need to adapt to the growing competition also. Overall, Haefren market position seems to be improving, sales growth will get better but I cannot say that the company will be successful in the future.…

Dozens and dozens of recliners. Each of them has a unique color and style to them. I see a red leather recliner that my tiny granny would absolutely love and a huge brown recliner that both Shaquille O’Neal and my granny could share. It amazes me how much of a variety there is. Charlie can see just how amazed I am by all of the recliners and tells me to try them out. Immediately, I briskly walk over to the oversized, brown recliner just to see truly how big of a chair it is. Charlie sits across from me and tells me a little about the store’s most popular item, the La-Z-Boy recliner. La-Z-Boy is a very popular and affordable furniture brand that makes all types of upholstery. In the furniture business, upholstery refers to sofas, recliners, sectionals, chairs, loveseats and more. Basically, any piece of furniture that someone would want to sit on in their living room is considered upholstery. He tells me a little about the two other stores that he, his brother, and cousin all own and operate. One is in Fort Smith and the other in Little Rock, both of which are La-Z-Boy…
