SWOT Analysis Paper Rebecka McCollough BUS/475
March 25, 2015
Dr. Timothy Williams
SWOT Analysis Paper When a company wants to identify factors that have the potential to affect the company’s future, a SWOT analysis is conducted. This analysis will identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that either help the business or could potentially harm the business. SWOT analyses are typically conducted as part of the corporate planning phase where goals are set for that company and strategies are created to accomplish those goals (Hill, 2015). We will look at Naspers Limited and the new Online Gaming Division that was created and conduct a SWOT analysis on this new division.
Online Gaming Division, Naspers Limited Naspers is a multinational company that has primary dealings in internet services, pay-tv and print media (Naspers Ltd., 2014). The Online Gaming Division was created to bring in additional revenue and create a marketable niche within the company to target the younger age groups. A SWOT analysis was performed on the new division and we will discuss the results of the analysis in this paper.
Economic and Legal/Regulatory Forces There are many economic factors that can affect our division to include inflation, economic growth, and interest rates (Weberience LLC, 2015). The economy is an ever changing environment and has to be monitored by our division. When the economy is in a good state, consumers are willing to spend more frivolously and this is where our new division will thrive. When the economy takes a down turn, our division has the potential for a steep revenue loss. Consumers are a demand environment, and when money is tight they are not willing to spend on things like gaming sites. Our division will need to use the opportunities that arise when the economy is good to really promote and market our products and services. If we can increase revenue during the boom in the economy, then the hit will not be as hard
