Symbolic Frame In School

The Symbolic Frame focuses on how humans use meaning, belief, and faith to create a culture. In a school setting there are values, rituals, ceremonies, and stories that make up the environment and symbols of the group which attract members that support the cause. Symbols help to make sense of uncertainty in the world. It allows people to see and understand events for the symbolic interpretation of them and not their shallow occurrence. Symbols create unity and add meaning to the culture of a school. Members create symbols to eliminate confusion.
My personal level of strength is in teaching values and traditions to my students. Values are the core of every person, without them we have no belief system. This is why I choose to teach my students to establish a set of values which will be with them for the rest of their lives. People must first learn how to be a good person, to be a person of worth. In order to grow as a teacher leader, I should become familiar with all of the rituals and traditions in my school. I should learn the purpose of these rituals and the reasons why they are so important. Sometimes it is easy for us to say we do it just because, but in order to be a teacher leader we must first learn for ourselves to provide our students with
information.
I plan to work within the symbolic frame to be a prophet in my school setting by appreciating the culture and showing that I care about the efforts of the school, I am setting a good example for those who do not understand or see the importance of the culture.
Taking responsibility to support them and maintain a positive outlook for the future of our culture is a sure way to make sure it moves in the right direction. The Symbolic Frame can be furthered by anyone and has the potential to do great things for the growth an organization. I will become active when any symbolic activity is taking place in order to learn and add this tradition to my future students and share stories of what has happened in the
past.
There are many benefits and challenges experienced in using the symbolic frame. I believe this frame explains value in knowing the school or organization you join and becoming a part in its efforts for the good of the whole. The symbolic frame is important in recognizing the qualities of schools and the unique symbols that motivate its growth. It is easy to find organization and structure as a necessary source of clarity that is beneficial in every group as with the Structural Frame.
