Symbolism In 'The Drummer Boy Of Shiloh'
Symbolism is the use of symbols to signify ideas and qualities by giving them symbolic meanings that are different from their literal sense.Do you know about the book named “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh’’,This short story is about a fourteen year old little boy in the war as the drummer boy of the battle.In this book he had ran away from home because of family problems and went into the army.This historical fiction is a fiction written by Ray Bradbury.Throughout this story the author used symbolism to add depth and meaning to the fiction.Also he uses metaphors to futher explain things and give more details about the setting of the battle.

To clarify peach blossoms is a symbolism also.Its connection to the battle is that the blossoms symbols a peaceful place in the field where the army sleeps.In this story the blossoms symbolizes peace.Also the Blossoms symbolizes a wakeup call to send a signal that something is going to happen.On page 165 one of the blossoms and hit the drum and woke Joby and scared him.However on page 167 another blossom fell and woke him again and scared him then he started to cry.

To sum up the brief essay,the story is full of good symbolic ideas to compare and contrast.There are many symbols in the story that i didn’t include such acap,drum,shield,buttons and many more.Remember that symbolism is to represent ideas or qualities of something.Also symbolism can be a person or thing it doesn’t has to be just a thing.The drummer boy of shiloh uses symbolism to make the story
