TKAM By Harper Lee And Courage By Edgar Guest
In TKAM by Harper Lee and “Courage” by Edgar Guest there are many similarities between the two texts which develops the theme and tone to support why Harper Lee chose to present these ideas the way she does. To begin, in both pieces of text the theme Courage is shown in similar ways. You can’t plan for courage it just happens. Atticus shoot a dog, Tim Johnson, a rabid dog he shot him to save the town. “The rifle cracked. Tim Johnson leaped, flopped over and crumpled on the sidewalk”. The poem describes courage as something we all have. “It’s part of a man when his skies are blue”. The theme of courage is shown between the two texts as a trait we all have inside of us. Yes, because Atticus didn’t have to shoot the dog he could have let
