Tacit Research Paper
Tacit or, in a more formal name, “Hand Mounted Haptic Feedback Sonar Obstacle Avoidance Assistive Device,” is a product made especially for the blind or for people who have vision problems. It calculates the distance to objects in front of them and translates that into pressure on the wrist. It’s wrist mounted and senses things from about 1 inch (2 cm) to 10 feet (3.5m). This device has generally fast response time (fractions of a second) to quickly navigate complex surroundings. It is designed to facilitate a vision impaired person to get around complex environments. Installed to the back of the hand, the force feedback means it does not interfere with other assistive devices that install elsewhere and use audio feedback cues. The learning curve is measured in seconds, everyone who has worn it has figured it out immediately.

“If you're getting rad and there is no one around to see it, are you really getting rad?” (Andy Hayes) This question proposed by Andy Hayes is a tough one to answer, and is one that puzzles skiers and snowboarders across the world. On one hand, you just nailed a totally righteous line that would undoubtedly leave you're alpine counterparts flabbergasted. On the other hand, nobody saw it, and will anybody actually believe your word when you tell them of your incredible feats. Besides for the question of are you getting rad, another must be answered; how rad did you actually get? We can all brag and rant about how amazingly we skied a line, but there must be a quantitative way to prove who got the raddest.…

I believe there is a reason why sixty percent of Americans don't vote in some election years. They know it’s rigged and whoever has a chance at getting "elected" was already bought by the big boys (or girls) who run it all. It more like, “we the people” of corporate America for decades. Probably the biggest factor for third-party involvement in elections is to highlight and broaden the political spectrum. As an optimist progressive, I continue to move forward with hope of transparency.…

I don't like student led conferences, some of the good things about going to these are that my parents get to know how I am doing in school. Another is that they get to see some of the enviorments that we are learning in. My mom cares about that stuff because I have to study at home for church a lot and we have to go into a room that is not distracting. Also some of the reasons I don't like student led conferences is the time that we take to make the "portfolios" and we don't get more time to work on actual school work. Another reason why I don't like them is that we have to find a time to do the conference and we have a tight schedule at home so it is hard to find time for that. So in conclusion I don't like student led conferences because…

Every person at some point in their lives has compared themselves to someone, whether it was a co-worker, a best friend, or even a complete stranger; we’ve all done it. But my question is why? Why does a person choose to torture themselves this way? Has one ever remembered a time when they compared themselves to someone for something they didn’t have and felt good about it afterwards? By doing this foolish act we are relinquishing our joy that we had possessed inside ourselves for our own achievements because our neighbor seems to have it better.…
