THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
The respiratory system is the biological system that introduces respiratory gases to the inside of the body and performs a gas exchange (o2 → CO2) through externaal respiration for bodily fuctions to operate. In humans and mammals, the anatomical features of the respiratory system include airways, lungs and plenty of muscle, nose, pharyngeal regions, larynx, and trachea.
Five disorders that relate or effect the respiratory system are: Pulmonary HypertensionChronic Obstuctuve pulmonary disease (COPD)EmphysemaAsthmaBronchitisAsthmaCommon symptoms of someone with Asthma include: wheezing coughing, chest tightness shortness of breath”Symptoms are usually worse at night and in the early morning or in response to exercise or cold air. Some people with asthma rarely have symptoms, usually in response to triggers. A number of other health conditions occur more frequently in those with asthma including gastro esophageal reflux disease. Psychological disorders are also more common with anxiety disorders. It is not yet known if asthma causes psychological problems or if psychological problems lead to asthma.Asthma is caused by a combination of environmental and genetic interactions. These factors influence both its severity and its responsiveness to treatment. Good asthma control means having all of the following: No night-time asthma symptoms No asthma symptoms on waking No need for reliever medication No restriction of day-to-day activities No days off school or work due to asthma No asthma attacks or flare-ups Asthma treatment usually involves managing medications, as advised by a doctor.
Medications for asthma are divided primarily into ‘relievers’, ‘preventers’ and ‘symptom controllers’. Most asthma medicines are delivered by an inhaler device, although some are available in tablet or liquid form, or for people in hospital, by injection.
