Sermon Title: All Into Prayer – With Absolute Uncertainty!
Text: Judges 6:1-17 Judges 6:1-2 NIV says, “The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and for seven years he gave them into the hands of the Midianites. Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds.”
(Judges 6:12-14 NIV) When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior. “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
Have you been praying and you are absolutely uncertain of the answer? Are you even certain that it is GOD speaking to you? Well this is the same place Gideon found himself when GOD told him to go and defeat Israel's enemies. Do you doubt because GOD's answer doesn't seem to match the objective? When you pray have you asked GOD for a sign because you were not certain of the answer? But Gideon’s faith was so weak that he asked God for another sign—this time to keep another fleece dry while making the surrounding dirt wet. Again, God complied, and Gideon was finally convinced that God meant what He said and that the nation of Israel would have the victory the angel of the Lord had promised in Judges 6:14-16.
