be treated equally. The role of women in taming of the shrew is big for Katherine (the main character) as a rambunctious character hating men and the very thought of marrying anyone but then is forced to marry a man named Petruchio who later tames her into an obedient wife. But she only has an important role in the book because she is different because of her hatred towards men and how only one man can tame her into the loyal, obedient wife she is supposed to be. The characterization of women in this book always having to follow the men and believe and act upon everything the man tells them to shows that the woman's role was not very significant. The role of women nowadays and their contribution to society is perceived as equal to men, but there is still some discrimination that women nowadays have to deal with.
There has been lots of women that had lots of contributions to society like Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Susan B. men. The contribution that women have in the book compared to women’s contribution to society nowadays differs widely from having to be obedient to men and loyal no matter what they do to declare as much space as possible away from the very thought of men.
In Taming of The Shrew, the main job of a girl was to find a man to get married to and when that happens, the wife’s job is to be loyal to the man and always do what the man wants them to do and always side with the man in everything they say politically or socially. Because of that rule that women have to abide by, this rule makes women’s contribution to society not great because even though the main role in the book is a girl, it’s about her being tamed by a man into a loyal, obedient maiden. And nowadays the role of women is the same as men, accomplishing anything isn’t super difficult for women nowadays. Given that, women now have the option to have complete separation from men. The roles of women nowadays compared to in the book is that women nowadays have a lot more freedom than in the book when women have to stick beside a men’s
side. Even though women aren’t exactly treated like a man, the difference between roles in the book versus nowadays varies widely from always being obedient to men to being as equal as men now. The role of women in Taming of The Shrew depicts women as weak and below men. The role of women nowadays is the same as men, but there is still some discrimination. The contribution of women nowadays versus in the book is that women have more rights now than in the book when women always had to be loyal to the men. If women nowadays are perceived as being equal, why is there still discrimination going around?
