Teachers who assign too much homework
Teachers who assign too much homework
Homework we all love homework right? Actually no it sucks and I’m pretty sure everyone hates it. You gotta deal with it though, except every year you’ll get one teacher that will give you what seems like 20 thousand assignments to do each night and they seem like they will take a month to complete if you’re lucky. But of course that teacher will make them all due day after day with no time in between! Is that really necessary. You come home to relax after being in school for what seems like forever, but instead you have to get right on that course that has a million assignments to complete, by the time you’re finished its already like 9 a clock and you still have homework from different classes to finish, by the time you are finally done all your homework, it’s like 2 am. You end up with no time to do anything else. You only get 4 hours of sleep, like is that really necessary NO it’s not fair! It’s especially unfair to the students who have jobs or are involved in extracurricular activities. Sure school comes first but you’re always telling us to get involved in our school which we can’t do if we have tons of homework to complete. Homework takes up your day, you don’t have time for anything else, not even dinner sometimes! Unless you are working on an essay or a project you shouldn’t have to spend any longer than 30 minutes on ONE course it’s stupid! It really pisses me off when teachers give you tons of homework, just to give you homework! You come back the next day and no one has their fricken homework done then the teacher acts so surprised and gives the whole class an hour long speech on how you should have been spending your time wisely. Well maybe if you didn’t give out so many assignments all at once more students would have had them all done on time! Think about it teachers you always complain about how we expect our work marked so quickly and that you don’t have the time to mark it cause you have so much work from

They are what we need and what needs to happen. On so many days, we come home with hours of homework and have to do it all in one night, it gets very stressful and we don’t get much sleep which affects our body. Not one day goes by without all of us feeling disrespected by teachers. We get yelled at, told what to do and when to do it, and if we say one word back, we are simply yelled at again. Our grade falls when we do not turn in an assignment on time. When teachers do not grade a paper on time, we must deal with it. Our grade drops when we do not get to class on time. When teachers are late, we again have to deal with it. The balance of the classes in this school is just not fair. If we want to feel like true people and have real rights, then we have to be able to do what we want. We should not have other people bossing us around like slaves and having these restrictions that make us become less than what we…

Students stay up late at night trying to finish their homeworks. They spent hours doing their homework. Their time is pretty much being restrained from doing other things. They wouldn’t be able to relax or enjoy their day. But instead they are cramming and rushing to finish their homework on time in order for them to make it to work on time.…

Anything from A-Z that involves school is a bad habit that I have to deal with. I mean everything about school annoys me. That means teachers, rules, and parking, finding paper to write on. I was saying to my best school bud Jared, the following questions. Where we were hanging out by the food truck complaining about how lunch is only 35 minutes and it just isn’t enough time to have lunch. It’s a hassle to get to school on time. What’s the deal with teachers assigning homework? Why do I take pointless classes that won’t affect me in the future? Why do I enable my teacher’s mind determine what grades I get on assignments? As my sixth grade teacher once told us, “ lets examine this further under our educational microscope.” To analyze and dissect this complicated matter.…

School is a place where I’m supposed to learn about how to deal with life outside of school, but in reality a lot of what I learn is no use to me in real life. I’ll never have to graph a polynomial function outside of algebra class, and I’ll never have to explain to someone how to figure out the count of valence electrons in Oxygen. Outside of school, however, I do learn about things useful to me. Like how to communicate with others, or how I can survive on my own without having to be dependent on someone else. School has ceased to be about learning, now it’s all about memorizing material for a test and…

We have refused the teachers assent to homework, and we feel like it is for the best of the students in the class. We have refused to do some of the assignments so we have down time to ourselves. We have all came together and came to the conclusion that homework is an unnecessary stress put upon our shoulders. Our teacher has had no time to think about how much time homework actually takes, even though it has been brought to her attention. Our teacher has made us miss several families dinners by loading us with homework. Our teacher has put a huge stress upon our shoulders,…

Finally, homework is very demanding on kids. “In most U.S schools, homework has become more demanding and time-consuming (scope magazine, pages 20-21, lines 33-35). Studies have shown that most kids feel very stressed about schoolwork and homework. There is a lot of pressure to do well in school. Some kids feel like “if they don’t get help from their parents, they will be at a competitive disadvantage with classmates who do.” (scope magazine, pages 20-21, lines 69-72).…

Imagine a world where students come home from school and take the time to unwind and relax. It has been proven that almost three quarters of Canadian parents think that homework is a household stress. So why is homework still being assigned at schools, especially for younger grades? In recent years, the question of whether or not homework should be banned from elementary schools and limited to one hour per weekday in high school has been widely discussed. According to a Stanford Researcher, too much homework can negatively children. It takes their lives away from school, where family, friends, and social activities matter (Parker). The opponents of this educational approach argue that if students are not given homework to do, they will not become successful in the future. However, banning homework from elementary school and limiting it to one hour per weekday in high school is beneficial in terms of health, academics, and real world experiences.…

A common phrase among young adults in secondary education is that there are three parts to high school life: social life, grades, and sleep. Pick two. Clifton Parker, on a study by education scholar Denise Pope, states “spending too much time on homework mean[s] students [are] ‘not meeting their developmental needs or cultivating other critical life skills,’” Students [are] more likely to drop activities, not see friends or family, and not pursue hobbies they enjoy.” To achieve grades that fulfill collegiate ambitions, students must spend all of the time they may spend with family or friends on the homework that earns them points. Teachers often assume that a student’s overall productivity is defined by the amount of work completed in a night. Many end up assigning at least an hour of homework to assure themselves that the kids are learning. Real life productivity is defined by advancement and development of character or leadership. Through that lens, completing busywork is not productive. Once students reach the real world, they are underprepared and underdeveloped to face day to day challenges. In an interview, Christine Gross-Loh quotes Krista Kuru, Finnish Education Chief, describing the reasoning against this approach. She states “Academics isn't all kids need. Kids need so much more. School should be where we teach the meaning of life; where kids learn they are needed; where they can learn community skills.…

Student Life Redefined Indisputable in today’s civilization, it has become unmistakable that the equilibrium of time spent on students’ social, emotional, physical, and academic life is categorically corrupted—an overload of assignments and activities for students often causes a lack of energy and inadequate spare time, many times leading to superabundant stress. Steven Guzman, a twelve year old, runs the same routine every day: He wakes up, goes to school, does homework, and sleeps, with no time for anything else but to eat. The author goes on giving solid information from examinations about extended school hours and time tired out from sports. Students pretty much experience the same time crunch as their parents. Additionally, nearly all children are now also losing free or play time, which could cause harmful effects in the future.…

With the usual due date being the day after the work gets handed out, students are forced to cram all their homework into their busy schedules. Most students have afterschool jobs or are too busy completing chores to do their homework. Some might be working late depending on their age, others could be babysitting or out of town, leaving no time to get the homework completed. Too much homework could also lead towards too much stress. In fact, a study last year showed that the impact of excessive homework on high schoolers included “high stress levels, a lack of balance in children's lives and physical health problems” (Wallace). If schools convert to a four-day school week, it would be less stressful for students since they would have more time to complete the…
