Formal teams
A formal team is created for a specific task or group of tasks, different members get assigned different jobs to complete. An example of this would be the management team in Odyssey.
Informal teams
An informal team is less controlled and structured and are put together because it is seen as easier for the final result to be completed together. An example of this could be a group of students coming together to discuss an issue with a teacher.
Temporary teams
A temporary team is one that is only set up for a certain period of time to complete specific projects, they work together as a team by sharing the workload out giving specific roles to each member. Throughout this project they stay in this team however once it is completed they split up.
Permanent teams
A permanent team is one that always works together, the whole team has their established roles and routines. An example of this would be the staff that works inside the club in Odyssey.
Odyssey team
The team that works together inside of Odyssey nightclub is made up of management, bar staff, bar support, and door staff, this means they are a permanent and formal team as they all have their separate job roles to perform. By doing this they are working together to make the experience of the customers more enjoyable whether it be making sure that the dance floor is not littered with bottles, or customers are getting served with a polite manner and speedy service. The team adds value to the organisation as customer satisfaction is a major part of the nightclub scene, if it is not up to scratch then bad reviews of the venue will spread very easily, on the other hand also if it is exemplary service, good news about the club will also spread bringing in more customers and boosting the revenue of the business.
Benefits of teams * Target setting - This can be done in teams and individually, as the individual target contributes to the target of the team (e.g. team target
