Technological Advances during the Age of Exploration
The Age of Exploration was the period of time from approximately 1400 to 1600, in which Europeans traveled the rest of the world in search of trade and goods. Technological advances were made and used to launch this era. These advances were the Caravel, the Magnetic Compass, and the Astrolabe.
The Caravel was a ship designed for long voyages. It was renovated by Portuguese shipbuilders in 14th century. It was actually used as a fishing boat since the 1200’s. This ship changed transportation for the better. The Caravel went further and faster, which allowed people to travel outside of what they were used to.
