Back when technology was starting to develop, American police officers were on foot patrol and/or rode horses and communicated by yelling at one another. Back then criminal investigation was less scientific and court cases were resolved simply by the popularity of a defendant than the weight of evidence gathered. Nowadays, American police officers ride around in cars, motorcycles, bicycles or any form of transportation with instant communication with other members of their police department.
