I have recently read a article on Heinrich Schliemann, this man was very interesting, he dreamed of discovering the treasure of the ancient world, but he was also a trickster. He was known for changing or making up details in his stories about false discoveries. Schliemann had been discovering a lost city called Troy for many years. He found out that a British archaeologist named Frank Calvert owned part of a site in Turkey. Calvert could not fund to dig or discover himself so Schliemann agreed to fund and share his work. Schliemann’s careless actions erased important evidence of Troy’s past. If Schliemann had never tried to find the lost city of Troy we would have not had any of these amazing discoveries.
While inventing a machine Perry Spencer would ahve accidently invented the microwave. Perry Spencer always had an interest in tinkering and discovering how things worked. During Spencer’s early 20’s he was an employee at a company called Raytheon, where he invented a machine called The Magnetron. One day while Spencer was standing near the powered Magnetron, he noticed that a bar of chocolate in his pocket melted, he took popcorn kernels and put them near the heat and it turned to popcorn. If Perry Spencer would have not had left the melted chocolate bar in the pocket he would not have discovered the microwave. See mistakes and accidents can sometimes produce one of the things we use daily, the microwave. Mistakes such as the two that have been metioned can help the way we do things and can become part of our history and lead to new things for the future.
