Teen Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy has developed into one of the United States’ largest and most debated problems. Having a baby while still in high school can create difficulties like not being able to complete high school, not going to college, and not being as effective in the workforce.
Other
than social dilemmas there are certain health issues that are more likely to appear in a teenage pregnancy for example the baby is more likely to have a low birth weight, to be born before term, and have developmental delay (Teenage Pregnancy Prevention). According to Sue
Christensen and Ann Rosen, The Family Connection of St. Joseph County Inc, joining the teenage pregnancy category brings an enormous cost to themselves, their children, and society
(Teenage Pregnancy). In 2000, more than 800,000 girls under twenty years of age became pregnant in the United States, 478,000 gave birth which means that 322,000 aborted (Teenage
Pregnancy). This information shows that teens who became pregnant did not have the resources while being sexually active and had to take on the responsibility of making their own decisions with their body. Abortion is harmful and careless. It damages ones body as well as ones mind.
Abortion is not the best or right decision to make. Teen pregnancy comes with a lot of responsibilities that most teens aren’t ready for.
The truth of teenage pregnancy is shocking. The U.S. has the highest rate of pregnancies in women under the age of twenty. 42.9 births per one thousand females are born to girls ages

fifteen through nineteen. Eighty percent of teen moms are not married and sixty percent of these mothers are in poverty when they have their children (Teenage Pregnancy Prevention).
America’s rates are two times that of Canada or England and eight times higher than in Japan and the Netherlands (Teen Pregnancy Statistics U.S.). In 2004, seventeen percent of
