Abortion
“The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between,“ as quoted by Mother Teresa. Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy by removing the fetus or embryo before it’s able to survive on its own. Abortion is illegal in some states. In the state of California it is legal, however, the fetus must be less than 12 weeks in order for the abortion to take place. Abortion can be beneficial in some circumstances. For example, the rate of teen pregnancy has increased throughout the years, making abortion an “ideal” choice for young women. Yet with great power comes grave consequences. to long term health problems. (Steven Eretlet)
Teenagers who become mothers have grim prospects for the future.
They are much more likely to drop from school; receive inadequate prenatal care; rely on public assistance to raise a child; develop health problems; or end up divorced (womensissues.about.com).Those who choose abortions are often minors or young women with insufficient life experience to understand fully what they are doing. Many have lifelong regrets afterwards (Linda Lowen). Many young teenagers do not know how to take care of a child. They do not have a job. Attending school can be difficult when a teenager has a child. Having a child is an important decision that requires consideration, preparation, and planning
(abortion.procon.org). If women become pregnant, they should accept the responsibility that comes with producing a child. People need to take responsibility for their actions and accept the consequences. Having sexual intercourse, even when contraceptive methods are used, carries with it the risk of a pregnancy
(Abortion.procon.org). The unborn baby should not be punished for a mistake made by adults. If women are unprepared to care for their children, they should at least put them up for
adoption. Abortion should be legal but only in cases of rape and when it threatens the life of the mother. No women would want to carry a baby that was created by a rapper. Most women would not want to carry a memory that caused pain and sorrow. (Lifenews.com). Yes, being raped is tragic but you don 't have to kill an innocent child, there are other solutions, for example, giving up the child to adoption rather for an abortion.
There is no need to kill their child and adoption would be an ideal choice because it allows a birthmother to choose the family who will raise her child. The controversial issue profits some women who have been raped, however some women overtake advantage due to irresponsible sexual practices. Abortion would benefit women and help them alot, they do not need to keep a child that is not want them and if abortion does not become legal many women would abuse their own child. Abortion staying illegal would help teenagers mature and understand the responsibilities they need to take.
