Understanding and implementing temporary summer employees helps Department Managers and Supervisors achieve equality and fairness in the workplace and improves overall service delivery to all Canadians. Employment equity encourages the establishment of working conditions that are free of barriers for the four designated groups in Canada: women, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.

The Labour Program ensures that the Employment Equity Act and mandates are applied appropriately to these four designated groups.
