In the world we live in today, we are surrounded by technology. We are influenced by Apple, Windows, and Androids throughout our lives. Has technology pulled us together or has it pulled us apart? People believe that you can really know someone by what they post on “Facebook” or “Twitter”. But technology gives us a persona that allows us to be who we want to and not who we are. We say things on the technology that we wouldn’t tell someone to their face. We hide behind a wall or screen and feel nothing when we send a hateful email. With the invention of technology, people find it harder to talk to each other face to face but can have an endless conversation over the phone or the technology. More and more people believe that the technology has brought us closer together but it has really pulled us apart.
What is a Technology? A technology comes in many forms such as: education, instructional, assistive, or medical. “To many of us, the term technology conjures up visions of things such as computers, cell phones, spaceships, digital video players, computer games, advanced military equipment, and other highly sophisticated machines”(Blackhurst). Everything in our world is or has technology. Technology ranges from the little microchips we use for our “IPhones” or to the massive engine of a rocket that allows it to fly. We use technology for everything in our daily lives. We use the internet to check on the results of the game last night, the television to see what the weather is like outside, and our phones to catch up with friends. “With the rapid development of microcomputer technology, increased research on instructional procedures, and the invention of new devices and equipment to aid those with health problems, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments, the latter third of the 20th century has borne witness to a very dramatic evolution.
