In Tesco it is very important that they meet the needs of their customers as they want their customers to fell they are being cared for and looked after. If customers do not feel this way they will be more inclined to shop elsewhere as it is very important that a customer feels cared for. As Tesco is in competition with other supermarkets, such as Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrison they have to meet the customers’ needs as if they don’t they may lose the customer to another competitor.
Secondly it is vitally important that that the needs of the customers are met as otherwise the customer will not give Tesco’s a good review when chatting to friends for example. Subsequently their friend will not shop at Tesco as they have heard bad things about the company. This would mean that Tesco would be losing valuable customers.
Tesco also need to meets their needs of the customer because if they don’t they will not be meeting their aims and the value of the organisation will fall.
Finally if the needs of the customer are not met they may make a complaint about the way they were treated when shopping in Tesco. This will lead to bad press for Tesco and this will not help them reach their aims and objectives.
Examples could be not helping a customer when they are in need of help e.g. listing an object that is too heavy, looking around and isle for five minutes trying to find a certain product and when at a self-checkout the machine is asking for an employee’s card.
