Texting And Driving: The Leading Cause Of Teen Death
By looking at the death rate of texting and driving, one can see that texting and driving is very hazardous. Although many drivers have argued texting and driving is not dangerous, closer examination shows that texting and driving is the leading cause of teen death (Auto Safety). Looking away for just 4 seconds at 55 mph, the driver has gone the length of a football field(Davis 1). In that time, the driver could have hit another car, a pedestrian walking across the road, or gone off the road. 1 out of 4 car accidents are caused by texting and driving(Auto Safety). More than 3,000 teens die each year of texting and driving while 2,700 die from drunk driving. 21 percent of teens in accidents were caused by texting and driving, 6 times more likely
