Within this poem the protagonist struggles to connect to his new school and chooses the path of isolation, The use of imagery in the verse “Our Lady watched, with outstretched arms, her face overshadowed by clouds” is used to show that the individual thinks twice about entering the school, the “outstretched arms” should be warm and welcoming giving a sense of belonging, however as the protagonists sees it “overshadowed by clouds”, a dark,…

Throughout the poem the author uses many different words and phrases to represent love and unity. There is no doubt that love is one of the words within the poem but there are also a variety of other such words as smiling, knowing, realize, happiness, and joy. As these terms are introduced into the poem the meaning of the words become deeper showing a more interwoven…

The poetry “Amazing Grace” by John Newton is one of the most famous poems ever written and composed. “Amazing Grace” has been particularly influential and has affected lives since it was written. The reasons why “Amazing Grace” is influential are for the same reasons why I found this poem very interesting and engaging. The literary elements that attributed to the poem’s quality and importance are its form, content, and tone. These elements are what make “Amazing Grace” such an important and significant piece of poetry in history.…
Thank you, a simple word that can mean everything to some people, but for some other people, this words might not even worth a thing. Every person in this world must have at least one person that they want to thank. That one person might be their mother, father, siblings, employer, co-worker, or even an organization that they have joined for a long time. However, sometimes it is hard for some person to say thank you to other people as they might be shy. That is why most people prefer letter or notes to thank other people as they can say what they want to say clearly and sincerely in that notes or letter. In this paper, I am going to talk about the differences I made for three different thank you letter that…

Throughout the poem, some words' importance are emphasized by stresses such as in this stanza "slowly, slowly raise she up" gives us the impression that even as we read, it becomes slower and slower. Furthermore, we can identify easily the tragic love present which is again another typical element of ballads. We can notice this element especially in these two particular quatrain:…
It cannot be denied therefore that there is a moral in the poem and that it is prominently displayed. The question is whether the too prominent didacticism mars the beauty of the matchless work of art. The fascination of the poem depends on the great passion that inspires the verse and the mystery and romance that pervade it. It is a thing of beauty, exquisite in workmanship and intended to startle and waylay generation after generation of readers. In such a poem, even the didactic element, which may ordinarily be counted as a blemish, has all the fascination of a charm that has been superadded. Far from detracting from the superb artistic excellence of the poem, the moral that is preached…

It starts to become clear that MacNeice uses a complex structure with variated rhythm to convey the poems celebration of life. With the underlying fact that life is finite, death is nearing, but we should live life to its full potential whilst we can until its pleasures end. In only four stanza’s MacNeice explores a variety of different emotions. There is a nostalgic sentiment in terms of love lost, the more distant memory of a paradise and the awareness of its imminent demise. Moreover, towards the end of the poem the poet writes of regrets and finally acceptance, ‘and grateful too for sunlight on the garden’. It is a poem which celebrates the joys of living, both in bold actions and in quiet moments, but it does so in the sombre knowledge that life is finite and all joys must have an end. Also, The juxtaposed rhymes may seem invasive and jangling at first, but through further readings it brings out a dying fall in those rhymes, this…

As the saying goes, man is a social animal and whatever he has achieved today was not possible without the help of others. Every task he has carried out is the result of the symbiotic efforts of many known and unknown faces. That is why at the completion of my project I would like to bolster the fact above said and would like to thanks all those who have helped me knowingly and unknowingly.…
