fought to defend the American Colonies also.
Not too long after the British came to the conclusion to do so, the Sugar Act passed.
The Sugar Act passed in 1764 to recover cost of defending colonies in war. The duty placed on sugar and molasses came from the West Indies. The colonists reaction to this all happening turned into boycotts and many protests. Finally, the act switched to having no taxation without representation.
The Stamp Act was the very first tax. The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament on March 22, 1765. This tax was for all American Colonists, they had to pay a tax on every single piece of paper that was printed that they used. The money collected by this act, was used to help pay for the costs of defending and protecting the American Frontier. The colonists didn’t agree with the act and decided to protest against them. It later caused Colonists to form a secret society called the Sons of Liberty.
During the proclamation of 1763, British leaders was scared that some more fighting would happen. The fighting would only happen if the colonists kept moving onto the land of the American Indians. So, to solve that problem and stop it from happening, they passed a law that banned British settlement a different direction of the Appalachian Mountains. Also, they made the settlers have to leave the upper Ohio River Valley. Finally, the problems there were
solved.
In the end, in 1781, the British decided to surrender in Yorktown, Virginia. The Treaty of Paris was signed in September 1783 which meant that the war was over. The Revolutionary war lasted over eight years, and many people was hurt. But some of the laws that was passed ended up becoming a victory for the United States. In all, our soldiers were happy to be home and all of the Colonist was happy that the laws passed.
