The Baptist University Printing System

Background

The printing system is set for the students. It allows students to print notes and homework. The printing platforms are set on different places, such as library, computer rooms or in hall facilities. Students are allowed to print things via their account from HKBU, which some printing quota is supplied in the account. If students would like to print through the printing system, they need to go to the library or other some special rooms to print the notes by using the computers provided at certain places.

There are two main problems with the printing systems. In some cases, after sending the print command to the printers, the user needs to go to a terminal to enter a password again and select the documents to be printed. Since the number of computers is limited, students may have to spend a lot of time to queue to print, which is quite time consuming. As we know HKBU has limited space, buying new equipment and expanding the current print stations do not seem to be a viable option. Secondly, there is no option for students to use their personal computers to print, which is another factor that is contributing to the inefficiency of the system.

Solution for print stations

There are couple of different processes can be created for different situations. Firstly, in relatively large places like the library where you might want to confirm your ID to prevent other people from printing your documents, instead of finding your ID number on the screen and manually typing your password again, you can scan your student card to initiate the printing.

For small places, like student halls, where there are a small number of computers and printers, a student can directly print from the computer that is logged in using student ID and password. This way, queues will be significantly short and there will not be a need for an extra terminal in the room.

This essay will assess to what degree the invention of the printing press has contributed to the spread of the ideas and ultimately the success of the Reformation in England and Scotland during the Tudor period. The impact of print has been studied by several historians and conclude that the Reformation was ‘virtually unimaginable without the invention of the printing press’. The movable type printing press invented circa 1450 by Johann Gutenberg in Mainz. In 1517 Martin Luther’s nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the Church door in Wittenburg criticising the corruption and abuse of the Catholic Church and its doctrine, and this date is widely accepted to be the starting point of the Reformation. The subsequent printing and distribution of this…

Henry David Thoreau and James Baldwin were two talented writers with different writing styles who lived in very different periods of our U.S. history. Both of these writers had to completely different views about the world and lived during a time when the country was defining civil equality. Even though both of these writers were so different from one another they both were deeply affected by the social issues of their time. Henry Thoreau and James Baldwin were both criticized for their point of view on civil injustice, nevertheless both writers managed to influence some of the same important people in our history; who fought for the advancement of civil rights. Both of these writers grew up with completely different social backgrounds and family structure. During the time of both of their lives; there was considerable conflict in the world and neither writer agreed with violent actions as a solution. Although both of these writers were not taken seriously for most of their lives; decades later their literary works have been instrumental in impacting the way that people view civil rights, this is a good example of how a powerful writer can leave a lasting effect on their reader.…

As for data output it is possible to distinguish between printed methods and electronic methods. To put it more precisely, it is possible to use a printer to print color photograph, resume, memorandum, statistical report, and even annual report though it is worthy of mention that the more complicated is the material that is supposed to be printed the more sophisticated the device of the output, printer in this case, should be. Obviously, a resume, a memorandum and a statistical report if it is short do not need the use of the high quality printing, while color photograph needs a high quality of printing. As for annual report and long statistical report, due to their size, it is more convenient to use more productive printers that work should work faster that those that could be used for a resume, for instance, because more information is needed to be printed. Also, it is quite convenient to use electronic devices such as a floppy…
